 What Is Shop-Free February?

This challenge is all about pressing pause on unnecessary spending for an entire month. And guess what? February is the shortest month, so it’s the perfect time to try! You might even love it so much that you continue beyond the month.

How I’m Preparing (and You Can Too!)

To kick off the challenge, I’m taking stock of what I already have:

✅Pantry & Freezer Inventory – I’m committed to using up what’s already there before buying more. Time to finally make that chili that I have all the cans of beans for!

✅Bathroom Stash Check – I discovered a surplus of lotions, shampoos, and toiletries—so instead of buying more, I’ll actually use them up (even if that fancy moisturizer ends up on my legs instead of my face!).

✅Realistic Planning – This isn’t about deprivation—it’s about intentional spending. For example, I’m allowing pre-planned expenses, like hosting a gathering, but skipping impulse purchases.

✅Valentine’s Day Alternative – Instead of buying gifts, my husband and I are keeping it simple with cards and a cozy night in. A heartfelt toast and shared memories mean more than any store-bought gift!

How to Make It Work for YOU

Think about what tempts you most—is it clothes, a daily coffee run, takeout, makeup, home décor, or impulse Amazon orders? This month, challenge yourself to cook at home or shop your own stash instead of adding more.

Also, plan ahead for your personal spending triggers—whether it's online browsing, weekend Target runs, or stress shopping. Unsubscribe from marketing emails, delete shopping apps, and replace the habit with something new (like calling a friend, reading, journaling or organizing what you already own!).
