Are you an adult? 4 key documents to do!
I know you’re a grown-up and that you care about your loved ones, right? So I urge you to make THIS year the year that you complete the FOUR key documents that you must have!
- WILL (aka Will and Trust) – This ensures that your assets are distributed according to your wishes, instead of being left up to the state.
- MEDICAL DIRECTIVES (aka known as a Living Will) - Let your loved ones know what kind of medical care you would want in the event that you're unable to make decisions for yourself. A do not resuscitate order (DNR) could be included as well. Five Wishes creates this legal document in many US states.
- MEDICAL POWER of ATTORNEY – This explains who would be your proxy to make decisions for you if you are unable to do this for yourself. Your proxy would follow your medical directive, so these documents go hand in hand.
- FINANCIAL POWER of ATTORNEY- It’s important to appoint an agent to manage your financial and personal affairs if you were incapacitated and unable to do so.
Taking care of these four essential legal documents is a way to show your love to your family and have a plan in place for the future.
Just imagine how much peace of mind you'll have knowing that they know your exact wishes and where to find your important papers in case of an emergency.
I'm sure you'll feel a huge weight lifted off your shoulders once these are in order and ready to go!
